Hyatt International is a relatively young company, but its history has been fast moving and exciting.

It all started back in 1957, when Jay Pritzker decided to buy a hotel in Los Angeles that belonged to Hyatt Van Dehn, a California real estate investor. Hyatt Hotels Corporation was therefore born.

This small hotel proved to be the foundation of the Hyatt Hotel chain. In the following years, the Hyatt family of fine hotels continued to grow in size and sophistication … rapidly becoming among the finest hotels of their time.

Hyatt became an international company in 1969, opening the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, its first hotel overseas – a hotel which closed at the end of 2005. Hyatt International is a separate company created by the Pritzkers to manage its overseas hotels.

The Pritzker philosophy of doing business throughout the world is to create opportunities for the future and to execute their business plans with the same high level of excellence that the public has come to associate with Hyatt.

The future is bright for Hyatt International, with hotels planned in many new countries. As the world’s largest, privately owned hotel chain, the company continues be the successful and exciting company it is today.
