Smith Micro is seeking an excellent Java/C++ developer to join our Application wireless software development team. This team is working on a variety of mobile client applications, such as Voice over IP and Instant Messaging. These applications are built on Smith Micro’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core designed for the next generation of cellular networks.

As part of this team you will be developing software using J2ME or C++ for several of the leading phone operating systems such as Windows Mobile, Mac-iPhone, Symbian and BREW, while working with best technologies and experts on the market.

This position is ideal for an excellent J2ME/J2EE developer, or C/C++ developer who wants to break into leading edge application development on mobile platforms.

Duties

Works within a team and independently on new features and concepts
Designs and implements various features based on product requirements
Engages with team on design and helps to estimate implementation times
Supports QA and Tech Support in dealing with new product releases and customers.
Identifies and reports obstacles in development process

Requirements

At least one, or more, years of work experience developing Java or C++ applications with strong skills with multithreaded applications, state machines and object-oriented Programming.
Familiarity with J2ME technologies is a strong benefit.
Strong Object Oriented, Algorithm and problem solving capabilities
Intermediate verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Familiarity and experience with the following is a benefit:
Familiarity with embedded platform development
Familiarity with user interface technologies such as AWT, OpenGL, SVG, Swing, UiOne, Xaml or game development
Experience with one ore more the of leading phone platforms such as Windows Mobile, BREW, Symbian Linux technologies
Application and User Interface Development skills on Windows, Symbian UIQ or Nokia Series 60 platforms using development environments such as Eclipse, Visual Studio and Carbide
